Coastline Cottage Home Watch of Fort Myers, FL, earns sixth-year accreditation from the NHWA!

Karen Curtin

Coastline Cottage Home Watch of Fort Myers, Florida, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the sixth year.

To owner Karen Curtin, starting a Home Watch company in Florida felt like she was stepping into something she had been preparing for all her life. With a background in design, decorating, real estate, visual consulting, and organizational management, starting Coastline Cottage Home Watch felt like a natural progression.

Owning, buying, and selling six homes along the East Coast that ranged from new construction to a 30-year-old property in need of full reconstruction, Karen had no choice but to learn and work with contactors hands-on to achieve the results she wanted. With each location (Massachusetts, New York, the Mid-Atlantic, and Florida) came many challenges, as with any home, but also brought some valuable lessons. From those lessons, she was able to sell each property at a profit.

After 30 years of visiting Southwest Florida, Karen and her husband bought their second home—their piece of Paradise. After several disappointing returns—the last resulting in $4,000 in damages—Karen and her husband found out that it is no longer feasible to leave such an investment in the hands of well-meaning friends and neighbors. The smallest oversight can turn into a major disaster. Karen’s goal is to help her clients maintain and care for their homes and investments as they would. When her clients return to enjoy their vacation spot, it is exactly as they left it. Should problems arise, she is there to report them to her clients, as well as to discuss how to handle every issue.

It was quite an eventful Fall for Karen; she had a harrowing experience during Hurricane Ian. She and her family were trapped on Sanibel Island and had to be rescued by helicopter! Karen wrote a guest blog for our website about her experience. Karen feels that teaming up with NHWA is the best backing she could have; it lets her customers know that she takes her business very seriously. Karen is a graduate of the NHWA’s Home Watch Boot Camp and has earned the designation of Certified Home Watch Professional, which puts her into the category of elite Home Watch providers in the industry. The CHWP designation and Boot Camp training exemplify Karen’s commitment to Home Watch excellence. She helps her clients have direct access and follow-up on their cottage, condo, or home on the Coastline.

Coastline Cottage Home Watch serves Fort Myers and Sanibel Island. You can reach Karen at (239) 771-3125 or at cchomewatcher@gmail.com. Follow her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cchomewatcher.
