Congratulations, First Mate Home Watch, on your second-year accreditation!

Crystal Volberding

First Mate Home Watch of Port St. Lucie, Florida, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the second year.

Originally from Glens Falls, New York, owner Crystal Volberding and her four children relocated to Palm City, Florida, in 2016. When asked why Southeast Florida, Crystal explained that her youngest son, Austin, was about to start high school, and he had a desire to participate in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) program. He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps, following his older siblings into a military career. Crystal also knew that they needed to be far enough south to always have tropical weather.

Crystal earned her degree in Business Management while still in New York. The move to Florida was momentous for Crystal, from meeting her husband, Ken, to starting her own successful pool care business. As the owner/operator of the pool business, she spent long hours in her clients’ backyards. After selling that business, Crystal started thinking about all her clients who were seasonal residents. Who was going to watch out for their properties the way she did? Caring for those properties, even though she was hired only to care for the pools, was something that happened instinctively. This ultimately led to her starting First Mate Home Watch.

Not knowing much about what licenses or additional training she needed in order to do Home Watch, Crystal turned to the National Home Watch Association. Being guided by the experts, Crystal has graduated from the NHWA’s Home Watch Boot Camp and  earned the designation of Certified Home Watch Professional, placing her into the category of elite Home Watch providers in the industry. The CHWP designation and Boot Camp training exemplify Crystal’s commitment to Home Watch excellence.

Caring for her clients and their homes and properties is something Crystal is proactive about, hoping to catch an issue while it’s still small, so her clients don’t have to react to a bigger problem.

First Mate Home Watch serves Hutchinson Island, Seawalls Point, Sailfish Point, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound, Stuart, Palm City, and Port St. Lucie. You can reach Crystal at (772) 237-4998 or at Learn more from her website, at

Congratulations, Crystal!

As always, I wish you

Much success,

Jack Luber
