Loretta and Larry Newton

Mountain HomeMinders of Franklin, North Carolina, has earned accreditation from the NHWA.

Loretta Newton, the owner of Mountain HomeMinders, has a rich history in property management. In 1997, she founded Florida Estate Management Services, a full-service property management firm in Palm Beach County, Florida. Alongside her husband, Larry, they catered to seasonal homeowners with specialized Home Watch programs and á la carte services, as well as offering comprehensive, pre-scheduled maintenance for more exclusive clients in Palm Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. This endeavor was a labor of love, characterized by hard work and dedication.

After a decade of success, Loretta and Larry decided to transition to their forever home in Franklin, North Carolina. They purchased 40 acres west of Franklin, where Larry created the beautiful community of Santeetlah Ridge, an enclave of 20 homesites. Having recently passed his general contractor exam, Larry took a hands-on approach to the development. He became a certified erosion control grading and land-clearing contractor in Macon County, constructing a 3/4-mile road and installing underground power, phone, and water lines, as well as overseeing the installation of two community wells. Today, Santeetlah Ridge boasts several beautiful homes and a close-knit community of wonderful families.

Now, Loretta and Larry are excited to offer Home Watch services once again with Mountain HomeMinders, working together as a couple to serve their community. Loretta’s love for the mountains has always been a guiding force in her life. Growing up in South Carolina, while her friends headed to the beach, Loretta preferred the mountains of western North Carolina. Her idea of heaven includes hiking, canoeing, rafting, fishing, or simply strolling under the lush canopy of the Appalachian Mountains.

Mountain HomeMinders serves Franklin, Lake Nantahala, Highlands, Cashiers, and Lake Glenville. You can reach them at (828) 421-4744 or at Learn more from their website, at
