Custom Home and Marine Watch of Port Charlotte, Florida, has earned Accredited Member status from the NHWA for the second year.
Owner Neal Snyder has been a resident of Florida for over 35 years. He and his wife, Emily, started out in Central Florida. For the 15 years before starting his Home Watch business, Neal traveled the central United States as a self-employed entertainer for six months of the year and worked as a real estate appraiser’s assistant for the other six months
Neal used to keep his boat at his in-laws’ part-time residence in Port Charlotte, and one or two weekends a month, he and Emily would visit the home to boat and fish. What a great deal that was! Unfortunately, when they arrived at the house, the lawn wouldn’t be mowed, branches and coconuts littered the yard, and the pool would be cloudy or full of yard debris. Over the next few years, Neal and Emily discovered a host of small issues that when left unchecked for weeks became serious and expensive, putting a damper on a weekend visit that was supposed to be relaxing. These included irrigation washouts, a backed-up sewer line, a sinkhole along the sea wall, the pool pump not working, non-functioning air-conditioning, etc. Neal’s in-laws had hired a pool service, exterminator, and lawn service; however, it became obvious that when the home was unoccupied, these service providers cut corners without being noticed or reported.
In 2020, Neal and Emily bought a canal-front home a few blocks from Emily’s parents. Emily moved her appraisal business to Port Charlotte, and Neal continued to assist her with appraisal inspections while also renovating their new home throughout the year. Within the first few months of performing appraisal inspections in Port Charlotte, there were several occasions where they had to make arrangements with a Home Watch company for access to homes. In their 20+ years in real estate, they had never heard of Home Watch. Neal researched Home Watch and found the NHWA.
Neal has earned the designation of Certified Home Watch Professional and has graduated from the NHWA’s Home Watch Boot Camp, making him one of the elite Home Watch providers in the industry. The CHWP designation and Home Watch Boot Camp training show Neal’s commitment to providing excellent service to his clients.
His unique blend of business knowledge, hands-on experience, and training provides a strong basis for Neal’s new business to thrive. He has experienced first-hand the need for Home Watch inspections. He brings good working knowledge of many home, marine, and pool systems. Neal has walked through hundreds, if not thousands, of homes for appraisal inspections and holds himself to the highest standards of professionalism, including the utmost respect for clients’ properties and confidentiality in all regards to client reports and transactions.
