Doug Browning
East Texas Home Watch of Athens, Texas, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the second year.
Owner Doug Browning has been involved in real estate, property management, construction, and insurance adjusting for over 20 years. Beginning in 1996, Doug specialized in investment properties and residential remodels; he bought and sold more than 100 properties each year until 2007, when he began working in personal and commercial lines and catastrophe insurance adjusting. His insurance adjusting also allowed him to work alongside FEMA/Homeland Security and their contracts after catastrophes. For a period of time, Doug co-owned a roofing company in Richardson, Texas, prior to moving to Athens.
Doug’s interest in Home Watch came about with the ice storm of February 2021. Most of Doug’s neighbors are absentee, and while they were dealing with their primary properties in the Dallas area, he was helping them out with all of their lake houses and helping them mitigate the damage. With his years of experience, Home Watch is a natural fit.
In 2019, Doug, his wife, Jennifer, and their two sons moved to their almost century-old family property, which includes 300 acres. Doug has served in all aspects of ranch management for the property, as well as timber planning and environmental programs. He was also a Director for The Sportsman Foundation (501c3) and worked closely with Texas Parks and Wildlife for years.
Doug enjoys going on RV trips with Jennifer and their sons, ages 7 and 10. His other hobbies include building and hunting.
