The National Home Watch Association and International Home Watch Association are very excited and proud to announce the accreditation of Australia’s first dually Accredited Member, and it’s a pretty big deal. Gold Coast Home Watch of Southport, Queensland, will be performing Home Watch & house checks as well as other property services to Gold Coast homeowners who spend time away from their residences.
Owner Glenn Griffin and his wife, Teresa, have lived on the Gold Coast for more than 20 years. Glenn has spent that time providing various property services to Gold Coast homeowners. Teresa is a midwife at the Gold Coast Hospital and has been providing home care for more than 25 years. Their Home Watch journey began in the summer of 2022, while they were in Canada caring for Teresa’s ailing mother. While there, Glenn came across the website for the National Home Watch Association and became intrigued by what he saw was a burgeoning industry in the United States and Canada. He knew instantly that a Home Watch service back home on the Gold Coast was desperately needed, and that he and Teresa were the ones to start one. They quickly joined our group and attended our North American Conference in Clearwater Beach, Florida. Glenn then attended the NHWA’s Home Watch Boot Camp, earning his Certified Home Watch Professional designation.
Glenn understands that many Gold Coast residences are unoccupied for extended periods of time, and there is a huge need for a periodic inspection service of these homes. One of Glenn’s sons is a FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) worker in Western Australia with a home on the Gold Coast. Glenn became a voluntary home checker while his son was away, and that was why his discovery of our association while in Canada was so startling. He wanted to combine his different life skills, experience, and local knowledge to form a business to provide a discreet, confidential range of services to absentee homeowners. After all, isn’t peace of mind what we all want?
