Co-Owner Craig Stephens was born and raised in Connecticut. After receiving his Certificate of Completion in the Study of Architecture from Harvard H. Ellis Technical School in Danielson, CT, he joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country. Craig initially served as an Aviation Boatswains Mate and was quickly promoted to the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. After leaving the Navy, he sought to utilize his degree, procuring positions with architectural and engineering firms in New Jersey, Washington State, and eventually Naples, Florida, in 1986. Craig continued his career with prominent local architectural and engineering firms in the Naples area, expanding his talents into the field of civil and structural engineering.
Craig founded a design business in 2016, providing architectural, civil, and structural design and consultation services. In 2020, he and partner Tom Nurney launched GulfCoast Home Solutions. Craig is an active member of the Rotary Club of Bonita Springs and has over 35 years of experience in the architectural, civil, structural design, and construction industries. He didn’t want to retire; he wanted to do something different and knew he would enjoy doing Home Watch. Craig is a detail-oriented person and lives in Bonita Springs with his dog, Gracie.
Co-Owner Tom Nurney is a “Southern Yankee” who was raised on the shores of Cape Cod. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Tom moved to Florida to open the Ritz-Carlton in Naples as the Department Head of the Grill Room. Upon receiving both the Mobil and AAA Five Diamond Awards, Tom was selected to be the corporate trainer for new hotel openings. Throughout his tenure with the corporation, he had the pleasure of living in Naples, Amelia Island, and Maui, culminating in Boston, where he held the position of Executive Food and Beverage Director for their flagship hotel. Tom and Craig met years ago while both were working at the Ritz-Carlton and have been friends ever since.
Tom returned to Florida, where he managed prestigious country clubs throughout the Southwest as the Director of Club Operations for golf communities. He provided administrative and operational advice to association boards while managing multiple employees, properties, and buildings.
Tom is an active Licensed Community Association Manager in the State of Florida. He has worked with several corporations overseeing property owners’ associations with direct oversight of all inspections and maintenance of the facilities. Tom further enhanced his proficiency with all the operational systems within single-family and condominium residents.
With their backgrounds and experience, Home Watch was a natural next step for Tom and Craig. They look forward to the trusted relationships that will be developed through servicing their clients.
