Greetings and salutations!

Home and Boat Watchdog of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, has earned Accredited Member status in the NHWA.

After many years of watching homes and holding keys for family, friends, and neighbors, Owner David Koster says this past year has presented the most problems for owners while they were away. From half-open back doors, a tree branch through a roof, squirrels chewing into and nesting in gutters, non-operational irrigation systems, a leaking basement growing mold, and water from snowmelt running in through a sunroom, Dave assisted all these owners in remedying the problem. He began researching the Home Watch business to ensure that everything is taken care of properly. Dave can support friends, neighbors, and the many others in the Delware beach area who need him, by saving time, money and frustrations, and giving them peace of mind while they are away. Now, with his accreditation, he is able to assure clients that the people in their homes are indeed looking out for their best interests at all times.

Dave has been living and boating at the beach for over 25 years and had a house built in Rehoboth Beach in 1999. He also runs a successful photography studio. A trained professional photographer has about 10 times more eye movements, paying close attention to detail, than your average person. Dave also has always had the ability to find four-leaf clovers in a patch of three-leaf clovers. This natural trait, observing differences in patterns and things out of place, is very useful in the Home Watch business.

Dave’s mother had 14 siblings; he is the oldest son of three children, He is married to Carrie Rest from Potomac, Maryland, his business partner and a bookkeeper. They have two young children: a daughter who loves animals, is a 4H member experienced with animals, and a pet walker and sitter; and a son who is a Boy Scout First Class, working towards Eagle Scout, a Brown Belt working towards Junior Black Belt, and a snow specialist. They live with their Boxer mascot, Apple Cider, and enjoy a busy family life that includes community, the beach, traveling, boating, water sports, sports, scouts, animals, church, and school.

We had the pleasure of spending time with Dave at the NHWA’s Fourth Annual North American Conference in September.
