Salo Home Watch of Rockport, MA, earns 12th-year accreditation from the NHWA!

Dana Salo

Greetings!

Salo Home Watch of Rockport, Massachusetts, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the 12th year.

And I must take this opportunity to acknowledge how important Dana Salo has been to the growth of the National Home Watch Association—and to me, personally. Until last year, when he married his best friend and business partner, Allison, Dana served as an original member of the NHWA Advisory Board. It was with mixed feelings that I accepted his resignation—I was thrilled for his new life, but sorry I wouldn’t have his perspective as often as I would like. That said, Dana still shares his opinions with me, and for this I am grateful. Dana was also the inspiration for Home Watch Boot Camp. In 2011, when he was just starting Salo Home Watch, he called me and asked if he could fly down from Massachusetts to South Carolina and shadow me and “pick my brain” for a few days. Of course, my answer was yes, and the rest is history.

Dana likes to point out that unoccupied homes are the breeding grounds for trouble. If your home sits unoccupied, it is not a question of “if something will happen,” but instead, “when something will happen.” He says, “Fate does not discriminate. Whether you own a pricey oceanfront home or something more modest, whether your home is brand new or centuries old, chances are something will go wrong. Going away for the winter and just hoping for the best is not a good plan. In fact, it is not a plan at all.”

Salo Home Watch prides itself on providing peace of mind to area homeowners on Cape Ann. During the Home Watch season of 2018-2019, Salo Home Watch experienced five saves. A save is a situation where, if they were not watching over the client’s home, their client would have experienced a big mess and an expensive clean-up.

Dana is a 1983 graduate of Northeastern University, College of Criminal Justice. He is the father of two wonderful young daughters. Dana was a 36-year letter carrier. He began Salo Home Watch in August 2009, when a retired doctor on his mail route asked him to watch over his home while he was away. After counting the number of vacation homes on his mail route, a business idea took root. Now that he is doing Home Watch full-time, Salo Home Watch is experiencing sharp growth, and Dana is taking the business to new heights.

Dana sat on the NHWA’s Advisory Board since its inception. He is a Certified Home Watch Professional, making him one of the elite Home Watch professionals in the industry. The CHWP designation shows Dana’s commitment to providing excellent service to his clients.

Dana has been to every one of our North American Conferences, and we look forward to seeing him again in October in Clearwater Beach, FL. Actually, anyone who knows Dana and Allison look forward to seeing them. A conference favorite, Dana is famous for his story about the 84-foot pilot whale in his client’s back yard. Make sure to ask him about it.

Salo Home Watch serves all of Cape Ann, including Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and most of the North Shore along the Route 128 Corridor. You can reach Dana at (978) 660-2372 or salohomewatch@gmail.com. Learn more at their website, www.salohomewatch.com.

Congratulations on your 12th accreditation, my good friends!

As always, I wish you

Much success,

Jack Luber
Executive Director
