Greetings and salutations!

Sandcastles Home Watch of Cape May Beach, New Jersey, has earned Accredited Member status from the NHWA.

As year-round residents, owners Jacqueline and Ken Moon understand the unique, weather-related situations that can negatively affect shore homes and other issues that can arise when a home is left unoccupied.

Previously Realtors, Jacqueline and Ken saw many homes—even those left vacant for short periods—suffer from water damage, mold, insect and rodent infestations, and issues coming from a neighbor’s attached unit.  They also understand the importance of keeping a home properly secured, especially after visits by contractors and guests when the client is not there. Having been on site for all their clients’ professional home inspections taught them to develop a keen eye and sense of awareness for spotting issues in a home and how to handle them in a professional and cost-effective way.

Jacqueline grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, and worked many years for Honeywell Home and Building Controls, consulting with hundreds of home and business owners on using simple proactive measures to protect their properties from water damage, fire, intrusions and mother nature.

Ken is originally from central California. In addition to being the broker of his own real estate team, he worked with an investor as his project manager for condo conversions, home flipping, and his own personal estate.  Ken found that he truly enjoyed scrutinizing a property and being involved in every step of its improvements.

Over the past 40 years, Jacqueline and Ken have lived in and cared for homes exposed to extreme weather conditions, from Anchorage, AK, to Palm Springs, CA. They have experienced the difficulty of maintaining a seasonally occupied home and the challenge in finding a dependable, trustworthy professional whose job it was to look after their own home while they were away.  They realized that neighbors, relatives and Realtors can be well-meaning but home watching was not their job, and Jacqueline and Ken were putting them in an uncomfortable position. Without proper training, experience and insurance, these people left the Moons vulnerable.

Since living at the South Jersey Shore, Jacqueline and Ken have found that many homeowners share a similar dilemma; that is why they decided to start Sandcastles Home Watch.

Jacqueline and Ken are active members of the Cape May Kiwanis Club and their church. They enjoy biking, boating, walking on the beach with our two dogs, and enjoying the many diverse restaurants and activities along the South Jersey Shore.
