SRQ Castle Keepers of Sarasota, FL, earns second-year accreditation from the NHWA!​

Gary Rhodus

SRQ Castle Keepers of Sarasota, Florida, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the second year.

Owner Gary Rhodus founded a new company two years ago to provide and conduct contract courier services. Subsequently, he started his Home Watch business, SRQ Castle Keepers.

In 1967, Gary earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Kansas State University and completed the program in four years.

In 1988, Gary founded and ran a state and local tax compliance and consulting business for 28 years, specializing in telecommunications taxation. He sold that business in 2018. Previously, Gary worked at one of the big, national accounting firms as a state and local telecommunication tax consultant, at a large telephone corporation, designing and developing a new, “automated” state and local tax compliance software package. Prior to that, Gary worked at other telephone conglomerates (before, during and after the divestiture). While at AT&T, he worked with state lobbyists to rewrite tax laws written before the divesture, bringing them into relationship with the new, “competitive” telecommunications environment. Gary was also tasked with developing the first state and local transaction tax compliance group at AT&T.

Gary is a serial entrepreneur. As a semi-retired person living in a very transient community, he was naturally attracted to the Home Watch business. As he researched the industry, it became apparent that there was a current and growing need for this type of business, especially in and around Sarasota.

Gary and his wife, Marsha, have been married for 57 years. Marsha has also worked side-by-side with Gary in all of his previous ventures. They have two grown children, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In his spare time, Gary reads, plays golf, and is an avid sports fan. One of his favorite things to do is grill. He has served in numerous volunteer positions over the years, including coaching baseball and football, volunteering at a free health clinic, and as a volunteer firefighter.

It was a pleasure to see Gary and Marsha at our 2022 North American Conference in October.
