New Accredited Member in Vermont!

Kim Barone and Charlie Posnick

Vermont Home Watch of Jericho, Vermont, has earned Accredited Member status from the NHWA.

Owners Charlie Posnick and Kim Barone started Vermont Home Watch after discovering that Vermont was the only state in New England without an Accredited and Certified Home Watch service and felt that their backgrounds make them well-suited for this business. The harsh winters that are typical in Vermont are particularly hard on a home, especially when it’s unoccupied. Charlie and Kim say, “Whether it’s your primary home, second/vacation home or a vacant home waiting to sell, a home that’s unoccupied for any length of time is a vulnerable home.” They add, “Another primary reason we started Vermont Home Watch is because of all of the collaboration and support we get from being a member of the National Home Watch Association (NHWA).”

Charlie is a graduate of the NHWA’s Home Watch Boot Camp and has earned the designation of Certified Home Watch Professional, which puts him into the category of elite Home Watch providers in the industry. The CHWP designation and Boot Camp training exemplify Vermont Home Watch’s commitment to Home Watch excellence.

Kim is a native Vermonter and has enjoyed being a salon owner for almost 20 years, as well as having been a childbirth educator and substitute teacher. Kim has raised four children and now enjoys spending time with her seven—soon to be nine—grandchildren. At a very young age, Charlie worked in his family’s retail business in Rhode Island, including conducting customer service training across seven retail locations. After graduating with a business degree from Northeastern University in Boston, Charlie enjoyed a long career in the software industry as a Quality Assurance Engineer. Being a QA Engineer requires good organizational skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and solid people skills. Charlie has lived in Vermont for 15 years and volunteers as a Guardian Ad Litem in the Family Division of Juvenile Court, where he represents the best interests of children involved in cases of neglect.

Kim and Charlie (along with their border collie mix, Gracie) built a farmhouse on 10 acres in Jericho and enjoy maintaining their home and property, inside and out. They understand how a home is constructed and what’s required to care for and maintain it. When they’re looking for a change of scenery, they enjoy adventure travel and sailing the Rhode Island coastline.
