Welcome, Blue Shield Home Watch of Port Charlotte, FL, to the NHWA Family!

Scott Kirsch

Jason Cooke

Blue Shield Home Watch of Port Charlotte, Florida, has earned accreditation from the NHWA.

Co-owner Scott Kirsch was raised in West Central Florida. Growing up, he worked for his parents’ restoration company. Scott attended Mount Aloysius College in Pennsylvania, where he studied Occupational Therapy. He worked in that field for several years. In 2003, Scott completed the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Law Enforcement Academy training and moved to the Charlotte County area. He is currently a Senior Investigator with the Fish and Wildlife Commission, specializing in protecting Florida’s natural resources.

While working for his parents’ restoration company, Scott witnessed firsthand the effects of unoccupied homes not being checked on for several weeks. Pipe breaks, floods, and storm and rodent damage were all a part of the restoration business. Currently having parents and friends who are snowbirds, Scott was already informally completing Home Watch tasks. After being asked several times if he could “look in” on another home, he determined the need for a Home Watch service.

Scott has been married to his wife, Kathryn, for 25 years; they have two college-age children. In his free time, Scott enjoys fishing, hunting, and just about anything outdoors. Kathryn and Scott enjoy weekend trips exploring new places and meeting new people.

Co-owner Jason Cooke was born and raised in Key West, Florida. After graduating from Key West High School, he attended the University of West Florida, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, focusing on Nautical Archaeology with a minor in Environmental Studies.

Jason began his career with the Florida State Police in 2007, where he was stationed in Charlotte County as an officer. In 2012, he was promoted to Investigator I. In 2020, Jason was promoted to Investigator II as a regional subject matter expert. He has been a member of the Special Response Team since 2010 and has been a team leader since 2014. Jason has also been a member of the dive team since 2017 and the assistant team leader since 2018.

Jason has been married for 15 years. He and his wife have a 13-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. Jason loves spending time with them doing outdoor activities. He is an active member of his community, coaching youth sports and high school athletics, and he’s an active member of his church.
