Seeing how the NHWA has grown since its inception really puts a smile on my face, and warms my heart. When I first started reaching out to other companies way back in 2010, I was met with a lot of skepticism. “Who the heck are you? And what gives you the right?” I got that a lot. Well, things have changed – a lot. While preparing for this year’s annual conference (held last weekend), I realized that our membership grew by 75% since this time last year. And while some have dropped off, that 75% is a NET gain. More importantly, since changing to new our website guru, our unique visits have quadrupled. Our phone rings constantly with inquiries from clients needing Home Watch services in their area (usually where we don’t have a member yet), and both new and veteran companies looking to get involved with us.
We gather data, help guide and advise member companies, and give our members the opportunity to become a part of our Home Watch community. The fact that we are sharing with each other and referring to each other is amazing. I just spent the weekend with Home Watchers from Minnesota, Arizona and Texas. From Florida, North Carolina and California. From Toronto, Canada to Ohio to Kentucky…and…well, from all over. These people know that they are a part of something. They got to experience the NHWA first hand. Being a Member means something, to our Members, and to Home Watch clients that want to deal with an accredited company.
So I am pretty proud of what has been accomplished so far. There are a lot of exciting things coming in the immediate future.
