Greetings!

White Pelican Home Watch of The Villages, Florida, has earned Accredited Member status from the NHWA for the sixth year.

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Well, owner Steve Stiffler could be the poster boy for this saying. I met Steve at our very first conference in 2013 in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was just starting his Home Watch company and was there to learn and network. At the following year’s conference, his company, Home Watch of The Villages, was knocking ‘em dead, with two company vehicles, employees, and lots of clients. And then he was forced to change the company’s name. Well, he wound up recreating the business with another name and another partner. After a couple of years, Steve wound up having to once again recreate his Home Watch company. But through it all, White Pelican Home Watch continued to be the elite Home Watch company in the Villages. And Steve and his wife, Patti, just get better and better at it. As a matter of fact, Steve recently earned Certified Home Watch Professional status, making him one of the top professionals in the business. So, I am thrilled to be able to announce the company’s reaccreditation.

Steve grew up in Medina, Ohio, attending Sumon Lukio in Tampere, Finland, as a high school Rotary Youth Exchange Student. Upon returning from Finland, Steve attended the Aetna Institute in Hartford, Connecticut, earning a degree in Finance & Risk Management. Steve’s first job was with an insurance agency in Medina, working alongside his father for 10 years. Upon leaving Ohio for sunnier weather, Steve worked in the Florida insurance marketplace for several large companies. He retired after 32 years of commercial insurance sales.

Steve gained a great wealth of first-hand Home Watch experience starting in 2011, while keeping an eye on his Florida seasonal neighbors’ houses. In 2013, Home Watch of The Villages was officially formed. HWOTV amassed a clientele of approximately 125 customers, employing 6 office and inspector staff members. In 2015, Home Watch of The Villages became VIR Home Watch, due to a conflict with the name brought on by The Villages Communities. In April of 2016, White Pelican Home Services, Inc., was established.

Some of Steve’s greatest accomplishments have been as Youth Football Head Coach in the South Florida Youth Football League for 14 years, Rotary GSE Team Member to Brazil 2005, Rotarian of The Year 2006, President of Leesburg Rotary Club 2008, and President of the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce in 2009.

Steve’s family includes his wife of 16 years, Patty, and three sons: Alex, Brian, and Cody. He has two wonderful grandchildren, Haylee and Tyler. Oh, and you can’t forget the office mascot, Madison, an eight-year-old Shih Tzu.
