Smoky Mountain Home Watch of Maggie Valley, NC, earns 12th-year accreditation. Congratulations!
Yolanda and Bob O'Brien
Smoky Mountain Home Watch of Maggie Valley, North Carolina, has earned accreditation from the NHWA for the 12th year.
Bob and Yolanda O’Brien attended the very first NHWA North American Conference in 2013, so we go way back. In 2014, at our second conference, Bob addressed our group and instructed us about proper defense tactics. Bob and Yolanda were planning to retire and grow their Home Watch business in the very beautiful Smoky Mountains and Maggie Valley of North Carolina. As soon as they began to build momentum, Bob was made an offer he couldn’t refuse by the Department of Defense, drawing him out of retirement and his dream of growing Smoky Mountain Home Watch. They continued to service a small number of clients, slowly growing the business while Bob and Yolanda continued to work in the military world. Once they actually retired (again), Smoky Mountain Home Watch was off the back burner and off and running.
Bob has an extensive background in law enforcement and security operations. He is a retired Military Policeman and a security-based civil servant who holds many national certifications in residential and commercial crime prevention, physical security, and crime prevention through environmental design. Before Bob’s (final) retirement, he was a nationally Certified Protection Administrator.
Bob’s wife, Yolanda, who is also retired, was a licensed medical technician for more than 34 years, caring for our military service members.
Bob and Yolanda were pleased to be able to respond to the needs of their clients in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. Bob says, “The NHWA was the core of our strength; fellow members and the leadership of the Association stood with us in our time of need. Many of our valued clients had an urgent need to know the status of their mountain property. With many roads and bridges simply gone, our task became seemingly impossible. Most homes were not accessible by traditional methods, but we were able to get to most of them on foot or by four-wheel drive. Our greatest satisfaction was being able to tell our clients that their property was not affected by the storm. The relief in their voices was immeasurable. We pray for the ones who lost their lives and the less fortunate and wish a speedy return to normalcy.”
Smoky Mountain Home Watch serves Haywood County, including Maggie Valley. They can be reached at (828) 400-6038 or smhomewatch@gmail.com. Learn more at their website, www.smhomewatch.com.
Congratulations, Bob and Yolanda, and thank you for always going the extra mile!
As always, I wish you
Much success,
Jack Luber Executive Director
