When the NHWA developed the Certified Home Watch Professional (CHWP) designation in 2018, it was with the intention of creating a new benchmark for the Home Watch industry. The CHWP designation is available to all NHWA member company principals and their employees, giving them an opportunity to set themselves apart from others. In an industry that has companies operating with little or no training and little or no insurance, offering their unsuspecting clients little or no protection, this designation, along with NHWA accreditation, creates a very high bar that all Home Watchers should aspire to.
In order to earn the CHWP designation, an individual from an NHWA member company in good standing studies a core curriculum based on NHWA Best Practices that apply to all homes. The candidate also studies a regional curriculum designed for the climate and location where they’ll conduct their business. They then take an online exam, which requires a 90% passing score.
A Certified Home Watch Professional holds their head high knowing that their designation requires continuing education and a recertification exam every two years. The NHWA does not make it easy to become a CHWP. We believe that only the best should be able to call themselves a Certified Home Watch Professional.
See the list at: https://www.nationalhomewatchassociation.org/chwp-list/. If someone is representing themselves as being a CHWP but their name is not on the list, they are not a CHWP.

As always, I wish you
Much success,
Jack Luber Executive Director
