Mark Hershberger
Cardinal Home Watch Services of Wadsworth, Ohio, has earned accreditation from the NHWA.
Owner Mark Hershberger is a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio. He grew up in Medina, went to Malone University in Canton, and raised his family in Wadsworth. For the past 16 years, Mark has worked as a professional home inspector for a prestigious home inspection company. He is certified and licensed in that field and has won the respect of a number of Realtors in the region. But winters are very slow for home inspectors. When Mark and his wife, Susan Wren, were looking for a way to supplement Mark’s income during the slow times, Home Watch seemed to be a perfect fit for someone with his experience and availability. They hope to retire someday and become snowbirds themselves. In the meantime, Mark is happy to be someone who will stay there in the cold and watch after the homes of others.
When deciding on a name for the company, Mark and Susan wanted something that would showcase their love for the Buckeye State. They have always loved cardinals for their bright colors, loyalty to their mates, and the fact that they are the state bird. What really sealed the deal was the fact that cardinals are non-migratory. They remain in the area throughout the winter when the other birds fly south. That’s exactly what Mark does: stays there and watches after his clients' homes so they are free to go wherever they like.
When not working, Mark enjoys spending time with Susan and their daughter, serving in his local church, and watching football and sci-fi movies. He collects 1980s pop culture memorabilia and enjoys listening to music, bicycling, and hiking with friends.
